Memorable Moment Monday

Feel free to click this button and join in on the fun!!

This is a picture of me in Cancun on my senior trip. It was so much fun!! In this particular photo, I was on my way to go snorkeling... something I NEVER dreamed I'd do because (to be honest) I am not a good swimmer. I can hardly swim to save my life. But, with the flippers and life jacket... why not? lol I miss that beautiful clear blue water.

A Long Time Ago

“I've always wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve

learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories

don’t have a clear beginning, middle and end. Life is about not

knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of

it, without knowing what’s going to happen next.”

This quote was on a friend of mine's facebook status. I saw it and had to grab it... it is soooo true! You know, a long time ago I believed that all stories had happy endings, that I knew all I needed to know, and that life was always fair. I believed I was just a lucky person. Now, I know that I am a truly blessed person, but that most stories don't have happy endings, that I know nothing, and life is not fair. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be Debbie- Downer and I am not a woa-is-me, I-hate-my-life, type of person... I just take things as they come, call it like I see it, and move on. I now know that I need to (as Shakespeare said) "love all, trust few, do wrong to none." As the quote says, you don't know what's going to happen next. I sure don't. My life changes to rapidly and randomly from day to day that I truly never know... part of me is starting to like that and part of me just wants some consistency! :)

Day 8 of 30 Day Blog Journal

A Photo That Makes You Angry/Sad

This is my Dad. My birth Dad. He died when I was 21 months old. Sometimes it makes me sad and other times it makes me angry. Other times I understand that this is my life and I have to accept it. It is just frustrating to have no memories of someone I should know. It makes me angry that I cannot remember his voice or even something as silly as his smell. It makes me sad that I don't know him... that Jake never met him... that my (possible) future children will not know him. It makes me sad that he has missed out on so much.

"It ain't fair, you died too young like a story that had just begun..."

Meet and Greet Monday... on Sunday night. lol

Hello everyone! This is the first time I have participated in meet and greet Monday... so I thought I'd do a tiny introduction. I'm Maggie. I'm 24. I'm married to an awesome guy named Jake (also known as the "H"). I am a mother... not to two-leggeds... but to two amazing 4-legged babies named Milly and Shelby. They are my life. I know people who are less obsessed with their human children than I am with my dogs. lol Pretty bad, huh? Other than being a wife and a MilShelb Mom, I am also a teacher. I'll start my first year in my own classroom this year teaching second grade. I am so excited!! I linked up to this meet and greet because I know Marlie personally and I LOVE her. She is an awesome Mom, blogger, person, and FRIEND. She's GREAT!! :) Well, it's nice to meet you and I hope to visit your blogs as well! :)

Day 7 of 30 Day Blog Journal

A Photo That Makes You Happy
This is a picture of my husband, Jake on our wedding day. He's reading the card I gave him before the wedding. :)

"Somebody Said It" Sunday

Happy Father's Day

Some of you may not know this about me... The man in the photo above is not my "father" but he is an awesome Dad. When I was 21 months old my (birth) Dad was killed in an automobile accident. It was a very bad accident. He was crossing the railroad tracks. He didn't see or hear the train. He was killed when the train hit his car.... he was on his way to pick me up from my Mom's house. Though I do not remember him, I know that I have his smile, many of his personality traits, and his love of life. I am told he was a very good and kind man. He loved life and he loved me.

When I was 5 (I think) my Mom remarried. She married a man named Michael and he became my Dad. He is an amazing man. I like to think that if my (birth) Dad were picking a man to raise me it would have been Michael. My Mom says that it takes someone special with a special heart to walk into a family that is already established and be a father... it takes someone even better to be a Dad. Michael has supported me, loved me, encouraged me, and raised me. I am so lucky to have him in my life.

Thank you, Michael, for being my Dad, especially because you didn't have to be. I love you! Happy Father's Day!!

Also, a Happy Father's Day wish to my Father- in-law. He is such a generous man and has truly been an amazing help to Jake and me in our first year of marriage with moving and fixing things. Love you, Tim!

Also a special thanks to my H, Jake, for being such a great MilShelb Dad! Love you, Jake!
